Jonny Mansfield's Florilegium - www.wakefieldjazz.org

For our first gig in this new world, we are excited to present a new trio project led by Jonny Mansfield, the multi-award winning vibes player and composer, originally from just down the road in Shelley. With pedals and synths, there will be new compositions and also tunes by e.g. Debussy and Joni Mitchell, all on a floral theme. While at the Royal Academy of Music, he won the Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize, and since graduating he has been nominated for the Ivor Novello Awards for his suite On Marsden Moor, setting poems by Simon Armitage for our friends at the Marsden Jazz Festival. He has recorded albums with his own Elftet and with local favourites Bonsai, as well as composing, arranging and recording a whole album (Portrait) in a day during lockdown. Welcome back to Wakefield Jazz with some of the UK’s finest young jazz musicians.
